17 inch laptop

Choosing The Right 17 inch Laptop

When it comes to choosing the right laptop, it can be a difficult task. There are many factors to consider. You must put everything into perspective before making a final decision. One important point to keep in mind is the size of your new laptop. Some like the smaller 15 inch laptops and yet others opt for the larger 19 inch plus models. But, by far, the most popular screen size is the 17 inch laptop because it has the best of both worlds: generous screen size and compatibility. The small 15 inch doesnt satisfy most laptop consumers viewing needs and the 19 inch plus models are just too bulky to carry around comfortably. That is why the 17 inch laptop is the most popular choice.

What are your needs?
Depending on your needs, you should shop when wisely when picking up your new 17 inch laptop. A good CPU (central processing unit), video card, and generous storage space are important too, unless you need the laptop for very light usage such as emails and occasional web-browsing. If you are a light user, your choices will be abundant and you will not have to spend much either. If you plan on doing heavy-duty gaming, make sure to get a high-end pc-- they are usually a bit costlier, however.

Which laptop can you afford?
The search for the right 17 inch laptop also raises another question- what is my budget? If the answer to that question is “not much”, then you should consider getting a laptop on a classified ads list like Craigslist.com or even Ebay. There are many aftermarket deals to be had on these two major sites and they should definitely be considered an option if your financially strapped and need a laptop, You can always search on the net as old technology is constantly dropping in price when its replaced by the next generation. This means that the powerful laptop of last season may now be in your price budget.

Mac or PC?
Some consumers have a difficult choice to make when it comes to Mac or PC? Well, the long and short of it is this: Mac is for graphics and sound, PC is more for business and gaming. The Mac has the upper edge when it comes to doing apps such as making music or doing graphic work-- if your a graphic designer, etc... The PC has the upper edge when it comes to office apps, multimedia, and even hardcore gaming-- Mac doesnt have PC games. It really comes down to preference and what you like. Some like the slick look of the Macs Leopard OS and some like the simple, straight-forwardness of the Windows OS.

Your laptops lifespan
A 17 inch laptop usually has a good lifespan and can last many years. However, is that necessarily a good thing? It may not be. Experts agree that you should update your laptop, at least, every 5 years to keep up with changing technologies. This means that your cool new laptop that you bought a few years ago may be obsolete measured against todays standards. Although, its not absolutely necessary, it is a good idea if you can afford it. So, upgrade that old laptop and take advantage of todays technologies so you can stay current and avoid compatibility issues as well as headaches.

Do your due diligence
Make sure to your research and due diligence when shopping for your 17 inch laptop. An ill-advised purchase can leave you stuck with a lemon. You want to make sure you know what laptop has the best quality and that you are getting what you pay for. Many people, mistakenly, think that if they pay more, they will get the best quality. That is not always the case. Researching your potential laptop and the brands available will give you a better idea of what to buy and what brand or model to avoid. Armed with this knowledge, you will virtually guarantee that you get what you pay for and that you will be satisfied with your purchase.

Store Warranty
Another point to consider is buying a warranty. This is a good idea if you plan on keeping your laptop for awhile and want to make sure its properly cared for. Generally, stores offer a warranty that will provide insurance for your laptop that extends beyond the laptop manufacturers warrantee end date, this is also called “extended coverage”. A store warranty allows you to take back your laptop and get it fixed for free if it gets damaged. Make sure to read the fine print as most stores wont cover negligence. They will, however, cover damage to your laptop that is beyond your control and not of your doing.

Go get your laptop now!
Now that you have a few factors to consider, sit down and plan your purchase. The best idea is to research your 17 inch laptop (and the brands your considering purchasing), assess your needs (and budget), and then make a purchase based on thoughtful planning. This is a much better strategy than just blindly walking into Best Buy and picking up the most expensive laptop you see just because you figure that is the best choice or best buy (pun intended). Now, hop online and start doing your due diligence. Then, when you are ready to pick up your laptop, make sure to get a store warranty to protect yourself from unforeseen accidents to your valuable investment. It really is as simple as that. Choosing a laptop doesnt have to be a hard decision if you go about it wisely and have a proper plan of attack. Just make sure that you approach it with an open mind and do not rush into anything out of over anxiety. So, what are you waiting for? Go get your laptop now! There is no time like the present to pick up the right 17 inch laptop for all your computing needs!

TOSHIBA SATELLITE A305 S6908 QUICK REVIEW

A must buy - Toshiba Satellite A305-S6908

The Toshiba Satellite laptop series have been a favorite among professionals and corporations for a long time. Adding to the glory Toshiba Satellite A305-S6908 offers a versatile base for all your needs. It is designed to meet the demands of a multimedia-hungry family, students on the go, and small businesses with demanding computing needs.

The keyboard is ergonomically comfortable. Oh yeah, because the unit is so shiny & polished. Fingerprints are a huge issue. CSI could lift a ton of prints off of this thing. I find my self polishing it now. But again I really like the product, especially for the price point. I am really tickled about the quality of the product for the price point. The speakers are pretty decent but if you really love music you would still use high quality external speakers. The screen is nice & bright. I cannot really talk about video fairly as my laptop has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 video card, not the Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated chip. With 1750 MB total available memory in the integrated chip, I doubt you would see much difference.

Key Features:

 Processor Core 2 Duo 2 GHz
 Installed Memory 4 GB (DDR2 SDRAM)
 Hard Drive 4 GB Serial ATA, 5400 RPM
 Display 15.4 in. WXGA TFT Active Matrix
 Operating System Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
 Laptop Type Mid-Size Laptop
 Expansion Ports 3 x USB 2.0, 1 x IEEE 1394a (FireWire), VGA out, RJ-11 (modem), RJ-45 (NIC), 1 x eSATA
 Integrated 10/100 Network Card • Integrated Wireless LAN

Pros:

 Beautifully designed; sturdy; no flimsiness of the screen or keyboard; much better speakers than most laptops
 Multitasks with no problem; a very crisp, bright display with no glare.
 The Draft-N Wifi picks up the network anywhere in the house - plus my next door neighbors network and a house two houses down the street, though at low quality.
 Comfortable Keyboard
 Smooth, high-gloss, sleek surface picks up fingerprints when you just walk by

Cons:

 Bothering up/down (right-side edge) - left/right (bottom edge) scrolling feature of the touch pad. I invariably touch these edges by accident and find my web page or word document has scrolled five pages down and across.
 The biggest complaint is the horrid battery life. One has to plug it up constantly to use it.

Conclusion

The Toshiba Satellite A305-S6908 Laptop Computer features a smooth, shiny palm rest and a recessed touchpad to that gives your notebook both a more streamlined look and more comfort when you’re clicking. Separate multimedia buttons let you launch your favorite entertainment right away as well as control playback–letting you start, pause, fast-forward and rewind almost with feather-touch operation.. A great deal to go ahead with!

Price: Approx. $450

INSPIRON MINI 12 ON SALE AT DELLS WEBSITE

295 Dells Mini 9 netbook has garnered it a bunch of reviews and choice awards. And while the netbook scene has begun a very successful life in the computer scene many people are still asking for one more thing. A little more screen size (and of course some more memory).

Dell is trying to solve that problem with the Inspiron Mini 12. The netbook comes with the standard specs of a netbook except for the 1.3GHz Atom processor which is behind most netbooks in the market. there are options for a 40GB, 60GB and 80GB HDD, As usual you also have the 1GB OF RAM. Color configurations include Alpine White and Obsidian Black. But probably most surprising about the netbook is its inclusion of Windows Vista Basic.

So far initial reviews of this laptop are OK. While it does carry a nice screen the 3 cell battery included (you can spend $30 and get 6 cell), is a little undressed. More importantly the 1.3 Atom processor is not going to be enough to power an OS like Vista (even if its Basic) and last but not least the price tag is a little steep with prices starting at $549 and going up to $649.

If youre interested in a netbook with a bigger screen the Dell Mini 12 is a good choice but if youd like something better for your money an MSI Wind or HP Mini 1000 is a better buy.

A Linux and XP version is around the corner but for now it might be a good idea to lay off the computer. But if youre still interested you can get it at the Dell website now.

Not precisely a presentation monster, it has 192mb that is cracked between RAM and ROM functions; this can on the other hand be promoted with the SD card slot up to 8GB. While evaluations with the iPhone may be diverted, resulting in the surfacing of numerous of the I-Kits shortcomings, this tools factual application is in its open basis guts. Dependent on Linux, the I-Kit could probably be an accurately epic chopping platform with the SD card slot permitting custom firmware to be encumbered easily. Availability is uncertain at this point but getting the I-Kit into the hands of the right multitude could prove it to be an achievement.

The keyboard on the T-6828 was a greeting development over the majority keyboards we see on punter laptops. The touchpad was receptive with a pleasant feel and felt hard-wearing. Battery life on the unit was slightly above average, Thanks to the 6-cell power pack.
