Western Digital claims that it consumes 30% less power than the previous generation Scorpio Blue. This reduction in power consumption will improve the battery life in the laptops in which it is installed.
The Scorpio Blue 640 spins at 5400rpm. It is faster than the 4200rpm drives. But you might still find it slower if you are used to working on a 7200rpm drive. The new drive has an 8 MB cache. It also features speeds of SATA 3 Gb/s. It will cost around $149.
