And, in fact, S9 really what it takes to challenge Apple with a colleague, given that he is an ultra-thin profile of 0.64 inches, while weighing only 3 pounds, is also partly due to the fact that it is made of materials known as Duralumin, usually found in advanced aircraft.
According to Samsung, Series 9 comes with a 13.3-inch LED-backlit display with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels, 400-nit brightness, 100,000:1 contrast ratio with 16 million colors, 160 degree wide viewing angle and a brightness of ambient light sensor that screen based on lighting conditions and adjusts surrounding areas reducing the user’s eyes.
Moving to a hardware configuration, it is interesting to note that the S9 is powered by Intel Core i5 second generation processor 2537M (1.40 GHz, 3MB, turbo to 2.3 GHz) with 4 GB of DDR3 memory and a maximum of 128GB Solid State Drive (SSD).
The device is based on HD GT2 Intel Integrated Graphics, and packet 3 watt (1.5W x 2) stereo speakers and a 1.5-watt subwoofer in a slim body, while the new lithium polymer low-power helps achieve up to 6 , average 5 hours battery stamina.
“It weighs less than 3 kg., The Samsung 9 Series is designed to stand out, but the idea of reimagining traditional notebooks,” said Scott Ledterman, marketing director at Samsung Mobile PC Business Enterprise Division.
“When designing a laptop premium Series 9, Samsung wants an unforgettable experience, with no restrictions. 9 Series Laptop succeeded in the style of performance, elegance and use in ultra thin and light package of convenience,” added Mr Ledterman.
Clearly, this is far from affordable, like the Samsung 9 series is scheduled to be available in February 2011, starting at $ 1,599.

Dell Inspiron 1525 15 4 inch Laptop Review
Overall, the Inspiron 1525 is a wonderfully balanced entry level system, offering something for almost everyone - the only exception being gamers. Superb battery life and decent display options are married to a great selection of features, making this one of the best options in the value 15.4-inch sector.
Dell has been on something of a roll recently. Its new range of XPS notebooks, the M1330 and M1530 were both great machines, while its desktop offerings, like the XPS 420, havent been half bad either. But let it not be said that Dell has had things all its own way, because there have been a few turkeys lodged in there too - the XPS M1730 springs to mind.
Another underwhelming effort was the previous Inspiron laptop, the Inspiron 1520. Though it introduced some new elements, such as a range of colourful finishes, it was bulky and uninspiring in a time when notebooks were becoming slimmer and easier to handle. Indeed, the new XPS notebooks were very much the response to such criticisms and Dell seems to have taken the lessons learnt there and applied them to its replacement, the Inspiron 1525.
An entry level 15.4in notebook, the 1525 shares a very similar wedge shaped base to that of the XPS M1530. This is definitely not a bad thing. Dell quotes a starting weight of 2.7kg with a four-cell battery, but we found it weighed exactly that with a standard six-cell battery. This is a very decent weight for a notebook of this size, while the quoted thickness of 25mm to 37mm, front to back, means it feels slim and elegant.
Theres also an even larger array of lid finishes to choose from. Standard options are for either a matte black or glossy white finish, while you can also choose from pink, brown, red, green or yellow Microsatin finishes or a new selection of designs called Commotion, Street, Chill and Blossom. Our sample has the Street design (above, on the left); probably the worst of the lot though a couple of them look pretty decent.
Overall, initial impressions of the Inspiron 1525 are almost entirely positive. Its new slimmer and lighter frame is a massive step forward, while the selection of lid designs is exhaustive. Inside things look good too; with nice textured sliver plastic and handy touch-sensitive media controls ripped more or less directly from the XPS range. Dell has also borrowed a trick from HP by sinking the touch pad into the chassis, and the keyboard is truly excellent, with light, crisp and responsive keys that make typing a breeze.
Again, the keyboard is identical to that found on the XPS range, but not everything is the same. You dont get a slot-loading optical drive and the battery packs lack the useful little battery meter that the premium line has. But, though the 1525 is noticeably cheaper, it doesnt look or feel like a cheap laptop, so you neednt feel embarrassed to own one - quite the contrary, in fact.

Motorola to bring Webtop to all future Smartphones
Motorola Mobility chairman Sanjay Jha announced at an investor relations conference this morning that starting this June, all future Motorola high-end smartphones will include Webtop. Webtop so far is unique to the Motorola Atrix 4G, but it looks that will be changing soon. Mr. Jha also made note that the only reason the Droid Bionic did not ship with Webtop was due to time constraints. Hopefully, this means that it may be enabled in a future update. Motorola’s definition of high-end also remains to be seen, but phones that can drive the second “shell” for Webtop mode will likely have dual-core processors and either dual-channel RAM as in the Bionic, or at least 1 GB of “normal” RAM like the Atrix. Don’t look for this on the Cliq 2, no matter how bad we want it.
Placing your smartphone into a specially designed dock to create a web appliance does sound like a very nice idea on paper, but the verdict is still out on just how functional it will be. One thing that would help further it along would be to design the docking stations to be universal, and I hope Motorola has this in mind. We’ll know more in June.

Asus Transformer Eee Pad TF101 vs Acer Iconia A500 Netbook Review
There are two new low cost tablets that just hit the stores recently. These Honeycomb powered tablets are the Iconia Tab A500 from Acer and the Transformer TF101 from ASUS. One glitch that you could find almost immediately is that they seem to be twins. It is hard to tell them apart. On the surface, they have similarities such as the screen size. Both are 10.1 inches capacitive screens with 1280×800 pixel resolution. Both run on the NVIDIA Tegra processor. Both tablets offer both 16GB and 32 GB memory options. There are also micro SD slots for extra 32 GB. In other aspects, they are all too similar. A notable difference would be the Transformer’s more brilliant screen that shows better white and black colors. This is thanks to the IPS LCD screen used by ASUS for this tablet. The viewing angles are similar to those of an iPad. Transformer has a wider viewing angle at about 178 degrees, compared to 160 degrees of Acer Iconia.
The Transformer is slightly wider compared to Iconia. Of course, there is also the keyboard dock for the ASUS tab. When it comes to battery life, it seems like ASUS was on a roll. It beats Iconia in battery life with is 9.5 hours which is 1.5 hours longer compared to Iconia which is not bad at all. However, it does not stop there since if you include the keyboard dock with its own battery and that means it can extend up to 16 hours, defeating Iconia and more than that, defeating the iPad 2.
For those who are inspired by mere looks, Transformer offers a good grip and is quite light. The back has a nice texture to it, you can say it feels very high end. Transformer also did some significant changes on the Honeycomb OS and now it adds some customizations so that you can improve the functionality of the Honeycomb OS. If you need more connectivity, Iconia has a lot to offer. There is Micro USB synching. There is a dock connector, USB Hosting compatibility with MicroHDMI and MicroSD as well as a charging socket. When it comes to multimedia experience and browsing, since the specs are all too similar, they are head to head on this aspect. ASUS is not yet finished with its baffling features. It has a 5MP camera located at the back and on front, a 2MP camera.
ASUS has a clear winner with its transformer. It is quite on the pricey side and with the keyboard dock; it is $50 more expensive than iPad 2. Nonetheless, it is a very powerful device and it seems very robust, well designed and the keyboard dock makes it all the more functional. The Iconia is left behind at some aspects but it is still a pretty decent tablet for your web browsing and app utilization aspects. It does not hurt though that the Transformer is really nice looking. It is still too early to say if Transformer will be able to snatch some audience from iPad 2 but nonetheless, it is a really nice product and it is worth the money.

New Gateway M series 15 4 Laptops Review
Ringing in at around $780, the Gateway M-7818u is tricky. It sure looks a lot like the Samsung X460, with its stylish red accents. But, the comparisons stop right there. Beyond a flashy coat, the M-7818u is a clunker.
The first thing to realize is that the M-7818u is a special configuration on the Gateway M-series made only for Office Max. Yep. Office Max. Friends, if you are going to Office Max to buy a computer. Well, you shouldn’t be.
Before anything else, this is a budget model notebook, and it shows with the specs. While the fairly standard Gateway configuration of nice components make up the heart of the machine — a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB of RAM — that’s about where the sexy stuff ends. In tests, Laptop Magazine found the M-7818u to be fast on boot and application launch, but molasses slow when it came to multi-tasking. And, for a everyday consumer’s home notebook, with internet browsing and music needed at the same time, multitasking is a necessity.
With the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD, don’t expect fast, current gameplay either. Sorry.
So, if it’s not good at multi-tasking or gameplay, why woulnd’t you just buy a netbook instead?
The Specs:
* Operating System: Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
* Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5800
* Processor Speed: 2 GHz
* RAM: 4 GB
* Weight: 6.28 lbs.
* Display Size: 15.4″
* Graphics: Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
* Storage Capacity: 250 GB
* Networking Options: 802.11a/g/Draft-N
* Primary Optical Drive: 8x Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD-RW

Dell working on an ultrabook for a January launch
According to DigiTimes industry sources, HP and Dell will launch their first ultrabooks sometime after rival system vendors, including Acer, Asus, Toshiba and Lenovo. The former reportedly plans to ramp up ultrabook production at the end of this year via Taiwanese manufacturer Quanta Computer, while the latter company has contracted Wistron to produce a 14-inch machine that will be displayed during CES 2012 in January.
The sources also revealed that Wistron is manufacturing Acers 13.3-inch Aspire S3, Compal Electronics is working on the 15-inch Aspire S3 as well as Lenovos IdeaPad U300s, while Pegatron Technology is whipping up Asus 11.6-inch UX21 and 13-inch UX31. We havent seen too many strict release dates, but most of those devices are expected imminently -- certainly before next year based on existing information.
Because HP and Dell will lag behind their immediate competition, some folks believe the companies intend to ship their initial offerings with Intels next-generation 22nm processing architecture, Ivy Bridge. Although that isnt impossible, it seems unlikely. Leaked roadmaps and separate sources have repeatedly suggested that Ivy Bridge will emerge in March or April 2012 instead of Intels customary January unveiling and launch.
In somewhat related news, VR-Zone reports that some Ivy Bridge ultrabooks will feature extremely high-resolution displays. While most of the upcoming MacBook Air rivals will carry a typical 1366x768 screen, some will cram 2560x1440 pixels into a 13.3-inch panel -- albeit for a premium. Such a pixel density would likely push the ultrabooks price north of Intels recommended $1,000 mark, and battery life would take a hit too. via

Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook S6510 14 1 inch Laptop Review
When most people think about a business laptop they don’t think about an ultraportable also. The Fujitsu Lifebook 6510 may just change your minds about this though. Weighing in at only 4 lbs. this ultraportable notebook sports and 14.1-inch” widescreen, a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 cpu, 2Gb ram. Fujitsu has accomplished something here that many notebook manufacturers have not. A fast ultraportable with enough power to run today’s high end business applications.
Overall the notebook is sleek in its design, from the wide 14.1-inch screen to its dvd burner. This model also comes equipped with a 1.3 mega pixel web cam. The 120 Gig hard drive is adequate for business class notebooks.
The system offers up 3 usb ports and a firewire along with an s video jack on the front next to the headpone and microphone jacks. It also boasts all of your legacy ports that include Vga, Ethernet and a modem.
Fujitsu also included adequate security measures in this notebook. Including a fingerprint reader, Smartcard reader, and TPM (Trusted Platform Module) makes this a nice notebook for security and speed. The only thing it doesnt have is cellular broadband, which is important if youre on the road most of the time and require a ubiquitous wireless connection. Otherwise, you can use the built-in WiFi.
Putting low voltage processors in notebooks is being done by a lot of manufactures now to trim weight, not only because they have a smaller footprint, but also the consume less energy. The other side to this is that as you load applications on them they tend to slow down and not have enough power to do what you need them to. This is not the case with the Fujitsu Lifebook S6510, the 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 is the kind of processor found in desktop replacement laptops. The 2Gb ram is necessary to run Windows Vista Business.
Looks like the fans inside of this notebook are also top notch as the highest temperature rating was 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The only problems I see in this notebook are the keys are a little mushy and it doesn’t have discreet graphics. The discreet graphics are not a big deal to those looking for a business notebook.
Battery life is also good measuring 3 hours and 45 on a single charge. You may remove the dvd drive and add an extra battery and this will put it into the 6 hour range according to Fujitsu.
All in all this is a great notebook for the price ($2,039 direct) and will be a serious competitor to those looking for a great business class notebook. I give this particular notebook an eight on my geek-o-meter. Great options and great performance just some minor annoyances.
Fujitsu Lifebook 6510 Specification :
• Genuine Windows Vista Business (32-bit version)

• 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 667MHz SDRAM (4GB max)

Super Talent Demos SandForce powered USB 3 0 Flash Drive
While it was not all that long ago we took a look at the Super Talent SuperCrypt and were blown away by its speeds, it was a tad on the bulky side for every day carry. It seems that if you wanted "Solid State Drive" levels of speed from a flash drive, you needed to be willing to give up some portability to get it. Well, that is about to change with the release of the all new Super Talent RC8 flash drive.
The RC8’s sleek all metal chassis makes it look very similar to the Express or Express RAM Cache, but inside lurks something special: a SandForce 1222 controller. When this controller is coupled with 8 dual package 25nm NAND chips the end result is near breathtaking for a "mere" flash drive. Under optimum conditions, we have seen ATTO benchmark numbers in excess of 265MB/s reads posted for the RC8. While it is a shame that new Super Talent didnt opt for the latest SF2181 controller (as it would have netted 550+MB/s speeds), the slightly older first gen new SandForce is still one fine controller that should easily be able to satisfy all but the most hardcore speed junky.As an added benefit, since SandForce controller compress all data written to the NAND, so the NAND inside the R8 will last longer than your typical flash drive (i.e. the cells wont wear out as fast as they otherwise would) and with its built in over-provisioning even when some cells do die, there will plenty of "spare" cells to take their place. Super Talent is planning on offering the RC8 in 25GB, 50GB and 100GB capacities and they should be available mid June. Expect to pay about $110 for the 50GB model with no word on pricing of the other capacities available at this time. [www.everythingusb.com]

BENQ RELEASES TWO NEW NOTEBOOKS
BenQ has announced the launch of its two new ultraportable notebooks dubbed Joybook S35 and Joybook S43. The machines are powered by CULV (Consumer Ultra Low Volatge) processors.
The S35 and S43 can be configured with a variety of processors like Intel Celeron 723/743 and Core 2 solo 1.40 GHz processor. Users seeking high end performance can opt for the Core 2 duo SU7300 1.30 GHz processor.
The CULV based processors offer better performance than the Intel Atom processors. They are also energy efficient. BenQ said that the Joybooks will provide up to five hours of battery life. If you need more uptime you can upgrade to the optional 8-cell battery which is expected to deliver 11 hours of battery life.
Other features include eSATA, HDMI, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and a Webcam. The storage capacity is 500GB. The Joybook S35 has a 13.3 inch display with 1366 x 768 resolution. ASUS 1101HA REVIEW
The Asus Eee PC 1101HA is the latest entrant to the Eee PC family of netbooks. With its relatively larger screen the 1101HA is essentially an enlarged version of the Asus Eee PC 1005HA.
Specifications of the laptop under review
Operating system: Genuine Windows XP
Processor: Intel Atom Z520 Processor 1.33GHz (can be overclocked to 1.74GHz)
Memory: 1GB DDR2 SDRAM (667MHz)
Storage: 160GB 5400 rpm SATA HDD plus 10GB Eee Online Storage
Display: 11.6-inch diagonal WSVGA (1366x768)
Graphics: Intel GMA 500
Price as configured: $429.99
Build and Design
The Asus Eee PC line of netbooks are known for their simple styling, solid build quality and budget prices. The Eee PC 1101HA is no different. Build quality is excellent. The bottom of the netbook provides an easy access panel for the memory.
Screen and Speakers
The 11-inch LED backlit display features 1366x768 pixels. The glossy screen offers good color and contrast. On the flip side the glossy surface can make glare and reflections a problem while working in a bright setting. Horizontal viewing angles are good, but vertical viewing angles could have been better.
Speaker performance is a lack-lustre. Headphones are a must if you want to listen to music on this device.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The 1101HA has a nearly full-size keyboard. But the keys are still slightly smaller than the keys you would find on an average notebook. Also, there isn’t much spacing between the keys, so you may accidentally hit the wrong key. Still the keyboard on this netbook is perfectly usable.
The touchpad is a Synaptics model. It allows multi-touch controls such as pinching or pulling. The touchpad surface is covered in dots which clearly marks the edges of the touchpad. There is no separation between the left and right buttons so you may accidentally hit the middle of the touchpad button. Another drawback is that the buttons provide extremely shallow feedback so may have difficulty figuring out whether you actually pressed the button or not.
Input and Output Ports
Port layout is similar to the one found on 1005HA. There are 3 USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet port, VGA out port, a 4-in-1 card reader, headphone and microphone jacks. Other features include Broadcom 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR and 1.3 megapixel webcam.
Asus has included the Eee Docking software on this PC which provides easy access to utilities, software and digital content.
Performance
The 1101HA might look bigger and better than the 1005HA, but in fact it is equipped with a slightly slower Intel Atom Z520 processor running at 1.33GHz. Most netbooks feature N280 or N270 Atom processor running at 1.6GHz or faster. So is 1101HA slower than other Eee PC netbooks? Well, yes and no. The Z520 atom processor takes longer to open applications in Windows, but it is still capable of running every software other netbooks can run.
Asus has included a proprietary overclocking application on 1101HA. This application allows you to maximize battery life by underclocking the processor and improve performance by overclocking it by roughly 30%. The integrated Intel graphics can handle Power Point presentations and DVD quality movies. But 720p and 1080p video playback is way beyond its capacity.
Heat and Noise
Heat and noise levels are normal. The 1101HA is very lap friendly.
Battery
Asus claims that the 1101HA will provide up to 11 hours of battery life. While that is a bit of exaggeration, you should be able to get around 9 hours if you run the machine at the standard clock speed of 1.33GHz. Note that overclocking will reduce the battery life.
Pros:
Solid build quality
Good screen
Can be easily overclocked
Cons:
Weak graphics
Slower processor that needs to be overclocked

REVOLUTIONARY VAIO P SERIES PHOTOS FROM CES
The VAIO P series doesnt become official until tomorrow and yet we are already seeing the blurry image cams do their thing by leaking full shots of the netbook that Sony dubs "revolutionary."
The image you are currently beholding were captured from a display monitor at CES and so far match up to the specs of the P series Sony has been teasing us with for a few weeks now. From the pics we can see that it carries a USB port on the right side of the system as well as something that looks like an eSATA port. There also seems to be two card readers in the front and no mouse except for that little nub in the lower middle part of the keyboard.
Hopefully tomorrow well get the full specs.
